Journal of Makeup and Beauty (ISSN 2714 – 5433) journal of make-up and beauty is a scientific journal published by Padang State University in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Makeup Education Study Programs (PPTRI). The researcher's background in making this thesis is due to changes in the series of traditional wedding ceremonies and bridal make-up in West Kinali Pasaman District, as well as the existence of several series of traditional ceremonies and make-up processes that were left behind as in a series of ceremonies before marriage, namely mancari chickens (proposing). usually done by a mamak to find a mate for his nephew but in Kinali sub-district this process is rarely done. Meanwhile, a series of marriage ceremonies, namely the marriage contract, was previously carried out at night, namely at the night of cooking rice, but over time the marriage contract was carried out during the day. In the form of bridal make-up in Kinali Subdistrict, before the bride was make-up she first performed the bahieh ritual, but nowadays bahieh ritual is very rarely done because makeup artists are more following the trend of makeup. Many wedding ceremonies in Kinali Pasaman Barat Subdistrict have been changed over the years but still follow the prevailing customs. Previously, bridal make-up in Kinali Pasaman Barat Subdistrict, before the bride and groom were dressed, they first performed the bahieh ritual, but over time, makeup artists followed the current trend of makeup. The form of bridal clothing and accessories in West Kinali Pasaman Subdistrict, the bridal clothing consists of batabue, tokah, kodek / skirt, suntiang gadang bridal accessories, kaluang and galang, groom's clothing consists of skirt, vest, sarawa, sasampiang, bridal accessories saluak, kaluang, galang and keris. Wedding clothing, along with the times, has been modified a lot as well as various clothing colors, which used to be identical to the red color of the wedding dress. The meaning of wedding dress in Kinali Pasaman Barat Subdistrict, suntiang, implies that a heavy burden will be borne by a wife when living a married life. Saluak is a male head covering which has a meaning as a symbol of the leader in the gadang house after having a family. As well as leading the children and their nephews according to the customary saying of minang anak dipangku kamanakan in urang kampuang dipatenggangkan. The skirt symbolizes the wearer's greatness and big spirit.

Mandailing traditional bridal makeup in West Pasaman Regency needs to be studied because there is a mixing of two cultures between minangkabau culture and mandailing culture, in order to produce a clear and concrete picture of mandailing bridal makeup in Pasaman. This study aims 1)to describe the shape and equipment of bridal makeup mandailing, 2) to describe the work process of bridal makeup mandailing, 3) to reveal what are the meanings of clothing and makeup equipment mandailing bride in West Pasaman Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach. Informant networking is done using snowball sampling technique. This research instrument is the researcher himself and assisted with supporting instruments such as tape rekorder, video tape, camera. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The steps of analyzing data are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed 1) The form of wedding dress on bridal makeup aadat mandailing in Nagari Ujung Gading, consisting of codecs / songket, basiba kuruang shirts from minang, shawl or Ulos from mandailing, with equipment consisting of golden moong, jagar-jagar and jarunjung, suri moon necklace, belt or bobat, puttu daboru bracelet, hissik bracelet, long nails, kris and tarompa. For the form of the groom's dress consists of a black biludru suit, sarawa gadang / lapang black, sesamping, and shawl or Ulos mandailing, with perengkapan such as hampu or ampu, belt, large plain bracelet, kris and tarompah. 2) The Process of Bridal Makeup Mandailing in Nagari Ujung Gading District Transverse Valley West Pasaman Regency. 3) The meaning of the form of clothing and bridal makeup equipment mandailing custom in Nagari Ujung Gading as a whole is for each use of minang clothing and mandailing equipment can only be worn by brides who carry out medium helatan or large helat. By fulfilling some provisions in "Sepanjang Adat Nagari". One of them is in slaughtering animals for helat. For medium helat animals sacrificed in the form of goats and for large helat in the form of buffalo animals. In this case it relates to the type of headdress (bulang) that the bride will wear. For medium helat bulang used is a five-tiered bulang or so-called bambeng (goat). And for large helat, the bulang used is a seven-storey bulang or called bulang barbo (buffalo). It is recommended to be able to maintain and preserve the existence of traditional bridal clothing and equipment mandailing.

This study aims to describe the opinions of students majoring in make-up and beauty regarding practical lectures that are carried out boldly in terms of the teaching and learning process, the capabilities of the lecturers, and practical facilities and infrastructure. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The research sample was 46 students majoring in make-up and beauty, of whom 21 students from class 2018 and 25 students from class 2019. The research variable is a single variable. The research instrument used a questionnaire with a Likert scale which stated as many as 60 items. The research data were analyzed using descriptive analysis of proportions using SPSS 20. The results showed that student learning was as big as make-up and beauty towards practical subjects 77.95% boldly with moderate criteria. Student learning review includes 3 indicators in the form of practical learning and teaching processes, lecturer capabilities, practical facilities and infrastructure. Student learning of practical subjects as seen from the indicators of the teaching and learning process with a result of 80.40% with good criteria. Student learning towards practical subjects is boldly seen in terms of lecturer capability (lecturer competence) with a result of 82.13% with a good category. And student learning towards practical subjects was boldly seen in terms of practical facilities and infrastructure with a result of 71.32% in the moderate category. Based on the results of research for research for students to carry out practical lectures in a bold and serious manner by providing practical facilities and infrastructure so that the practices we carry out boldly can be carried out in accordance with the objectives of the lecture.

Facial skin care generally has the objective of maintaining and improving skin health, as well as beautifying the skin's outer appearance. Pandan is a plant whose leaves are often used as an additional ingredient for food fragrance. Vitamin C found in fragrant pandan leaves has antioxidants that are better for facial skin. This study aims to a) analyze how to make a traditional pandan wangi leaf mask to moisturize dry facial skin, b) to analyze the quality of the pandan wangi leaf mask seen from the content of flavonoids, vitamin C, saponins found in fragrant pandan leaf masks, c) to analyze The quality of fragrant pandan leaf masks is seen from the texture, aroma, adhesion and preferences of researchers. This is a quasi experiment. The object of this research is analyse fragrant pandan leaves which are made into natural mask powder. Tto analiyse the flavonoids, vitamin C and saponins content, which is carried out in the Chemical Laboratory of FMIPA UNP. And to analyse organoleptic test, by involving 7 panelists . Descriptive data technique by displaying statistics and frequency. Based on the results of research, the process of making traditional pandan wangi leaf masks in this study was made in the form of powder, the quality of traditional pandan leaf masks based on laboratory test results showed that the content of flavonoids, vitamin C and saponins, based on organoleptic tests showed adhesion and preferences of panelists had a sufficient level high, while the texture aroma has the same value. Conclusion fragrant pandan leaves contain flavonoids, vitamin C and saponins. The organoleptic test showed the stickiness and preference of the panelists had a fairly high degree of initiation, while the aroma and texture had the same value.

Traditional yellow cassava mask can be used as a cosmetic facial treatment made from natural and easy to get and contains vitamins that are good for facial skin. The purpose of this study is 1) To analyze how to make yellow cassava mask feasibility yellow cassava mask traditionally for oily facial skin care, 2) To analyze the feasibility of yellow cassava mask seen from the content of vitamin B1, C, and Ca contained in yellow cassava mask, 3) To analyze the feasibility of yellow cassava mask seen from the texture, aroma, adhesions, and favorite of panelists. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research. The object of this study was yellow cassava which was made into a natural powder mask. This type of data uses primary data. Data collection techniques using documentation, observation, and tests. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis techniques and analysis methods.The result of the study is the quality of traditional mask yellow cassava powder based on laboratory test results can be known that Vitamin B1 contained in the traditional mask of yellow cassava powder is as much as 0.03 mg. Vitamin C contained in the traditional mask of yellow cassava powder as much as 70.19 mg. Ca contained in traditional mask yellow cassava powder as much as 24,957%. Based on organoleptic tests showed the texture, aroma, adhesion, and liking of panelists had a fairly high level of assessment. Some panelists said that the traditional mask of yellow cassava powder is very good as a mask that can overcome oil content on oily facial skin, as well as make the face smoother and brighter. It is recommended to students to add insights in the field of traditional cosmetics and use them in accordance with the condition of the facial skin

This study aims is to investigate the lifestyle of teenagers, the use of ginger cosmetics, and the effect of teenage lifestyle using ginger cosmetics cream in Nagari Pitalah, Batipuh. The population of this study are 50 girls in Nagari Pitalah. The sample in this study 30 people using random sampling technique. The research instrument used a Likert scale questionnaire with 52 items of statements. Data analysis used SPSS version 20.00 program. The study of the resu1ts can be conc1uded that 1) the youth lifestyle in Nagari Pitalah, Batipuh District with a respondent's achievement level of 67.9% is in the sufficient category, 2) the use of whitening cream for ginger in Nagari Pitalah, Batipuh District with a respondent's achievement level of 67.8% is in the sufficient category 3) there is a lifestyle influence on the use of ginger whitening cream because tcount> t table (9.272> 2.042) with a contribution of 75.4%. Suggestions in this study are 1) For researchers, to research more deeply about the lifestyle that can affect the use of ginger whitening cream, 2) For adolescents, this research is in order to increase adolescent knowledge about the use of ginger whitening cream, 3) For majors, research This is so that it can be used as an additional reference for the Libraries in the Makeup Study Program and the Faculty of Tourism, Padang State University which researches the lifestyle and use of whitening creams.

Cut crease is usually applied with light colors to strengthen the eyes. Foundation application technique as the basis of using cut crease with eyeshadow application to emphasize the folds of this eye will give a greater dimension and eye effect. This study aims to a) Analyze the results of application without foundation as the basis of using cut crease techniques against the makeup results of Sundanese Brides, b) Analyzing the results of foundation application as the basis of using cut crease techniques against the makeup results of Sundanese Brides and c) Analyzing the differences in the influence of application without foundation and with foundation as the basis of using cut crease techniques against the makeup results of Sundanese Princess brides.This type of research is pre-experimental design. The population of this study is a student of Padang State University with an age range of 19 years to 23 years, has a close to normal eye shape and has a normal skin type that has no allergy to cosmetics with 6 samples and 7 panelists. Data retrieval technique is purposive sampling method. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistic techniques with percentages and t-tests to describe hypothesis tests. Based on the results of the study seen from 3 people sampled in the group without foundation application of the aspect of sharpness of eyeshadow color obtained an average of 2.1414 categories less clear, aspects of the impression of eyelid shape obtained an average of 2.3329 categories less formed and aspects of favorite observers averaged 2.1886 categories less likes. Furthermore, the results of the study were seen from 3 people sampled in the group with foundation application of the aspect of sharpness of eyeshadow color obtained an average of 3.5729 categories very clearly, aspects of the impression of eyelid shape obtained an average of 3.2843 categories formed and aspects of favorite observers averaged 3.1886 categories likes. There is a difference in the sharpness of the eyeshadow color without foundation and with foundation, the value p = 0.000 (p<0.05), there is a difference in the impression of the shape of the eyelids without foundation and with foundation, the value p = 0.003 (p<0.05) and there is a difference in the preference of observers without foundation and with foundation, the value p = 0.002 (p<0.05). It is recommended for makeup and beauty students to be able to apply foundation as the basis of using cut crease technique to make up sundanese bride's makeup.

The difficulty of economic during the Covid 19 pandemic many consumers who do not have a job so do not have the budget to visit a beauty salon. This study aims to determine the impact of the covid 19 pandemic on the interest of beauty salon visits in Bungus Teluk Kabung Subdistrict, Padang City. emic covid-19, interest in salon visits. This type of research is a correlational quantitative research. The research was conducted at a beauty salon in Bungus Teluk Kabung Subdistrict, Padang City. The research population is visitors beauty salons located in The District Bungus Teluk Kabung Padang City which amounts to 30 people with random sampling techniques. Data retrieval technique is using questionnaires (questionnaires) that are adjusted in the form of Likert scales that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques using multipleregions and t. Based on the results of the study obtained 1) percentage of 77.79% with the category of impact of pandemic covid-19 is medium 2) percentage of 58.42% with the category of interest in salon visits is low 3) there is an influence between the impact of pandemic covid -19 to the interest of salon visits with a value of 2,554> ttabel of 1,998 while a significant value of 0.016<α0.05. It is recommended for salon owners to always apply health protocols every weekday and require visitors to wear masks and make banners about the application of health protocols in the salon environment, as well as provide a place to cuuci hands so that it makes the interest of visiting increasing.
